The high school winter sports season in the state of Iowa is officially in the rearview and today commences the spring sports slate. While track practices started up a few weeks ago, today marks the beginning of the soccer and golf seasons.
The first golf meets of the year can take place the week of March 28th with the season running through the state meet set for May 23rd on the boys’ side and the girls will be May 26th. Soccer games will start rolling through March 28th with the girls state tournament starting May 31st and the boys on June 1st. Indoor track meets will continue this week and the first outdoor competitions will be next week with the Columbus Community home meet on March 21st. The boys and girls state track meet at Drake Stadium will be May 19th-21st.
