Five Washington Demons received top ratings at the Iowa High School Speech Association’s Individual Event State Contest Saturday, with one receiving an all-state nomination.
Eight Washington students advanced from the district contest to perform at state held at Grinnell High School. Junior Molly Klinzman received a division I rating in original oratory and storytelling and was nominated to perform at the All-State Festival for storytelling. Freshman Rita Du received a division I rating in musical theater and acting, senior Quinn Wubbena received division I in storytelling, junior Bailey Rees received division I in musical theater, and senior Mathew Osborn received division I in poetry. Klinzman will be performing at the All-State Festival on March 28th at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. Full results below:
