Back for the program’s second ever season, the Sigourney-Keota soccer team is ready to make the leap into the big leagues this spring.

In their inaugural 2021 campaign, S-K played a junior varsity only schedule to try and establish their program. As the calendar flips to 2022, they are now set for a full varsity slate in class 1A. Cobra Head Coach Dillon Maass believes this will be a great jump for the team. “This is good for our kids because varsity soccer is different than a JV schedule. It is helpful for our program because it is  easier to get kids interested knowing they can get varsity letters and awards at the end of the year. For us to grow the sport in the area, this is definitely the right move.”

Maass explained the goals for this spring. “The theme of this year is to leave our mark. Our players want to prove that we are a school that is serious about soccer and it is going to be tough to beat us. When teams play us, we want to make sure that it is a challenge and that we can compete with anybody.”

S-K will officially commence their season on Tuesday when they make a trip to face PCM.
