One week out from the start of the soccer season and the Washington boys are ready to pick up right where they left off from last spring.

The Demons went 9-6 last season that tied for their most wins in the last decade and they finished second in the Southeast Conference with a 7-3 league mark. The orange and black have big shoes to fill with the loss of five graduating seniors including the school’s all time leading scorer Zac Stout and his 28 goals in 2021. They do return six players that found the back of the net last year including Brayan Arreola with seven, Fabian DeJesus with six, and Manny Raymundo with five.

Seventh year head coach Sally Hart tells KCII Sports she is confident that numerous players have the capabilities to step up and fill the void. “Knowing that Zac didn’t do it all himself last year with a lot of assists, I’m looking at those guys that had those assists to step up and now be the goal scorers. They know where the ball needs to go and now we need them to be the ones shooting on goal. I will be curious to see how the season progresses if we will have a go to scorer or if we will have a handful of guys to spread it around.”

DeJesus and Emre Akgul are the senior captains with other seniors being Erick Ortez Jr., Cole Anderson, Quentin Howard, and Bryan Cortes. Anderson, Will Gilchrist Brock, and DaShaun Westphal-Edwards all return with varsity goalie experience.

Washington will kickoff the new campaign Thursday, March 31st hosting Highland. Home games this year for the boys and girls will be played at the new Washington Wellness Park.
