It was an efficient start to the new campaign for the Washington girls’ soccer team last night when they hosted Centerville and picked up a 3-0 non-conference victory.
In their first ever game at the new Washington Wellness Park, the Demons set the tone early with a goal by Greta Rothe and they stretched it to 2-0 by intermission with a tally by Alex Murphy. Rothe, a senior that registered 16 goals in 2021, picked up right where she left off and found the back of the net one more time in the second half to give Washington all the insurance they needed. Elyse Hunt was perfect in goal to manage the shutout.
The orange and black start up the spring 1-0 and they get back at it tomorrow at Columbus Community.
