Residents of Ward 1 in the City of Washington are heading to the polls Tuesday for a special election to fill a city council vacancy.

Bethany Vittetoe Glinsmann and Deran DeLong are both on the ballot for the council term to end in 2023 representing the northwest quadrant of the city. Polls are open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Washington YMCA building on West 5th Street. Those who still have a mailed absentee ballot can drop them off at the Washington County Auditor’s Office at the courthouse until 8 p.m. to be counted.
