Names have been released of the suspects arrested in relation to a shots-fired incident Tuesday night near Iowa Wesleyan University.

KCII previously reported that two people were taken into custody after law enforcement was called to a large fight near West Broad and North Jackson streets. At some point a handgun was displayed and shot, striking an 18-year-old victim who suffered minor injuries. The Mount Pleasant Police Department states six adults have been charged in the incident.

Nineteen-year-old Decobi Davis, formerly of Baton Rouge, Louisiana is charged with reckless use of a firearm resulting in serious injury, a class C felony, and participating in a riot, an aggravated misdemeanor. Nineteen-year-old Joseph McNeese formerly of Texas and 21-year-old James Williams formerly of Chicago, Illinois were also charged with participating in a riot. Nineteen-year-olds De’kunta Mason Jr. formerly of New Orleans, Louisiana, J’cauri Morris formerly of Houston, Texas and 18-year-old Vernell Trent of Mount Pleasant were all charged with disorderly conduct, a simple misdemeanor. Four local juveniles are also charged with disorderly conduct.

The investigation remains ongoing and there is no concern for public safety. Additional charges may be pending. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the police department.
