It’s a busy day on the spring calendar for Hillcrest Academy athletes.

The Raven golf team travels to New London for a makeup meet with the Tigers. This contest was originally scheduled for April 5th. Hillcrest has not had a competition since their opener April 4th, a 195 to 197 loss to Highland where they were led by Jace Rempel and Liam Schrock’s matching rounds of 45. New London is in the same situation. The Tigers have played one meet this year, a 178-188 loss to Van Buren on April 4th where they were led by Wyatt Miller’s 44. Action at Deerwood Golf Club gets started at 4p.m.

The Hillcrest boys and girls track teams are in Donnellson tonight for the Central Lee Relays. The Ravens were on the track at Lone Tree a week ago with Delaney Shaw leading the way with third place finishes in the 400m dash and long jump. Malia Yoder was fourth in the 200 and on the boys side Quang Hunyh competed in the 100, 200 and 400. Joining the Ravens at Central Lee tonight will be Cardinal, Columbus, Danville, Keokuk, Van Buren and the home Hawks. The meet starts at 4:30p.m.

The Raven soccer team gets a top 10 road test Monday when they travel to Burlington Notre Dame. Hillcrest is 2-2 on the season after a 5-1 win over Sigourney-Keota Thursday. On the year, Hillcrest has scored 13 goals and given up six. Individually, five different Ravens have scored including Diego Ramos with five goals, Jorge Canchola with four, Micah Gerber with two and Jesse Blossom and Grant Bender with one each. Canchola and Collin Miller each have two assists. In goal, Aiden Krabill has saved 25 of 30 shots on the year for an 83% save percentage. Burlington Notre Dame comes into the match as the defending Class 1A state champions. They are 2-1 on the season and have not played since a 4-0 win over Fort Madison on April 4th. On the season, the Nikes have scored six goals and given up two. Gabe Zurita leads them with two goals. He, Parker Davis and Carson Wagner all have an assist. In goal, Arya Nowroozi has saved 26 of 28 shots for a 93% save percentage. The Nikes have won five straight in the series including sweeping three matches last season. Action starts tonight at 5p.m. at Notre Dame High School.
