A portion of Lexington Boulevard and West 5th Street will be closed beginning Monday, April 25th for a concrete overlay project.
Weather permitting, the road will be closed from North Avenue D west to the end of the pavement on Lexington Boulevard as crews will resurface the existing pavement with six inches of Portland cement concrete and place new granular shoulder material. The road will be closed to thru traffic for the duration of the project which is tentatively scheduled to be completed by late May. Traffic will be detoured around the project using West 18th Street and Highway 1. Residents are encouraged to use the designated detour route and use caution while traveling on the detour or in the area of the work zone. The Washington County Engineer’s Office realizes this project will create an inconvenience for local traffic, though when it is completed it will create a significant improvement of the roads. Any questions should be directed to the engineer’s office at 319-653-7731.
