It only takes one. The Hillcrest Academy boys soccer team brought that adage to life Thursday in a 1-0 Southeast Iowa Superconference match win over visiting Central Lee on Family Night in Kalona. The game stood in a scoreless stalemate at half, and continued that way until a 60th minute Diego Ramos goal as he weaved through the Central Lee defense, beating several Hawks before shredding the net nearside.

That was more than enough for a Raven defense led by Grant and Mason Bender, Andrew Starr, Seth Ours, Bryce Bailey, Isaac Lybeck and keeper Aiden Krabill. The Hillcrest midfield of Jorge Canchola, Oscar Flores-Calix, Gabe Bruns and Jesse Blossom also helped limit Central Lee’s chances by maintaining possession. Krabill ended with a three save clean sheet. The Ravens are now 2-1 in the Superconference and 3-3 overall after the win, they host Danville on Friday.
