The Hillcrest Academy boys golf team won a Southeast Iowa Superconference dual in Columbus Junction over the home Wildcats on Thursday 190-236. The 190 team score is the best of the year for the Ravens. Jace Rempel had a 45 to finish as meet medalist, his round included a birdie. Rempel talked after the round about the day. “We really haven’t had many practices with meets just about every day but Phil (Schintler) has had some drills for us to do and it’s really helped our games. My second shot on hole four today I put it pretty close and ended up birdieing, so I was happy with that. This was the first time that all of our scorers got in the 40s so that’s really good team improvement.”
Alex Niemeyer shot a career best 47 to finish as medalist runner-up. Other Raven scores included Josiah Beachy and Liam Schrock with 49s, and Luke Schrock 50. Robert Coil led the Wildcats with a 51. He spoke after his round about the day. “As a senior, I just try to show everybody how to be at a golf course, make sure that they’re doing the right things. I’ve been focusing on chipping…it’s been killing me. The round today was alright, I shot a 51, it’s not my greatest, but not my worst either.”
Coil is the lone senior on this year’s Wildcat team and was playing in his final meet at Cedarcrest.
