Saturday was the final day of the 112th annual Drake Relays in Des Moines with a handful of events involving area athletes including one that is bringing home a medal. 

Mid-Prairie’s Danielle Hostetler took home fourth place out of 21 in the girls 1500m clocking in with a time of 4:45.99. The sophomore was the sixth event in the area to crack the top eight at the Blue Oval and find a complete list by checking out the day two story here. Saturday’s action also saw Washington’s Lance Sobaski place 15th in the boys 1600m with a time of 4:29.62. A pair of girls teams competed in the 4x100m with Mid-Prairie’s relay of Emma Lueck, Alyssa McDowell, Tabitha Evans, and Mitzi Evans placing 48th out of 96 with a time of 51.69 seconds and Highland was 92nd in 53.63 seconds. The Huskie runners included Katelyn Waters, Sarah Burton, Grace Prybil, and Mackenzie McFarland. On the boys’ side for the 4x100m, the Demons nabbed 51st in 44.97 seconds with this team consisting of Ethan Patterson, Lucas Kroll, Jacob Miller, and Elijah Morris. The Golden Hawk boys placed 62nd in the same event in 44.79 seconds with the runners being Tyler Helmuth, Cain Brown, Will Cavanagh, and Carter Harmsen. 

The home stretch of the track season is here with conference meets starting this week, districts set for May 12th, and the state meet taking place May 19th-21st in Des Moines.
