While adults hunt for second-hand finds at Wellman’s citywide garage sales, kids can take in a local attraction for a special event Saturday. This weekend it’s yard sales and roller skates in Wellman. The City of Wellman is hosting their annual garage sales with 40 participating locations around town. To coincide with the shopping opportunity, the Wellman Skating rink will host a Kid Skate from 8a.m. to noon Saturday. The rink is charging $3, with proceeds going toward the Wellman-Scofield Public Library. This week, City of Wellman Recreation Director Brenda Reasor spoke with KCII news about the partnership between the city, library and activities this weekend. “This year we decided to throw in something a little different and open the skating rink up for people to drop their kids off. It’s $3 to skate. We will have food available through the concession stand. The proceeds from this day will go to the Wellman Scofield Public Library. There will also be volunteers from the library here so we have more hands on deck. I was just having an office chat with Erin (Campbell) the library director and I offered it to her.”
A full map of sale locations is available at the Wellman Municipal Building, and local businesses. More information about the skating event can be found through the Wellman Skating Rink and City of Wellman social media pages.
