The Hillcrest Academy boys soccer team dropped a Superconference match Thursday on the road to the Mediapolis Bulldogs 4-1. The Ravens got on the board in the first five minutes of the match when Collin Miller drove a shot to the back of the net on a Diego Ramos assist. The early advantage didn’t last long with Mediapolis finding the equalizer in the 10th minute and then taking the lead for good in the 30th minute, holding a 2-1 advantage at the break.
Out of half, MEPO banged in back-to-back goals in the 60th minute to run the lead to 4-1 and secure the win. Goals for Mediapolis came from Owen Russell and Rafael Narcisco each with a pair. Aiden Krabill had a pair of saves for Hillcrest in goal. The Ravens have dropped three straight matches and see their record settle to 4-6 overall.
The Ravens are right back on the pitch tonight when they welcome Wapello to Kalona for senior night. The Indians are 2-10 this season, falling 4-0 to Central Lee last time out. On the year they have been outscored 83-29. Individually, they are led by Daniel Perez with 20 goals, third most in Class 1A. Elijah Belzer has three assists to lead the way and in goal, Kainoa Seumanutafa has made 146 saves, allowing 53 goals with a 73.4% save percentage. Hillcrest is 9-0 all-time against the Indians including a 2-0 victory last season. The Ravens will honor all spring senior sports athletes including soccer players Gabe Bruns, Jorge Canchola, Collin Miller, Titus Neuschwander, Oscar Flores-Calix and Aiden Krabill, track athletes Leah Bontrager and Quang Huyhn and golfer Alex Niemeyer. Action starts tonight at 6p.m. at Hillcrest Academy.
