Another Demon is refusing to retire the orange and black with Washington’s Greta Rothe signing her letter of intent this week to play soccer next year at Wartburg College in Waverly.
The Knights have strong tradition on the pitch being regulars near the top of the American Rivers Conference standings and last fall they qualified for the NCAA DIII Tournament where they finished with a 15-4-1 record. Rothe is stoked to join the program and school. “The first time I went there was at a camp after my freshman year and I instantly fell in love with the atmosphere. A lot of their values are the same values I have as an athlete and student. It was so early on that I had to keep my options open, but there was nothing that compared to how I felt at Wartburg. I decided this past summer that this was the place for me.”
The senior has been an offensive juggernaut since her freshman year and has compiled 49 career goals in just three seasons. The soon-to-be three time All Southeast Conference player has found the back of the net 20 times so far this spring and has helped Washington to an 8-4 record.
Rothe and the Demons will conclude the conference slate on Monday against Burlington. Next fall she plans to major in biology.
