Boys golf teams had their chance on Monday to secure a state bid and today is the girls chance with several area schools competing in the final round of the class 1A and 3A regionals.
The Southeast Conference champs in Washington will try to add another state banner in class 3A when they compete at Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa. The rest of the competition for the favorite Demons include Burlington Notre Dame, Clarke, Fort Madison, Knoxville, Mount Pleasant, Carlisle, Fairfield, Keokuk, Lisbon, Pella, and the host Indians.
In class 1A, Sigourney will aim for back-to-back state appearances when they play at Diamond Trail Golf Course in Lynnville. The Savages won the Prairie Knolls sectional last week and they will have to go through competition from BCLUW, South Hardin, Don Bosco, Pleasantville, Moravia, and Montezuma. Highland and Winfield-Mt. Union advanced through the first round last week at Deerwood and they will hit the course today at Heritage Oaks in Wapello. Other schools include New London, West Branch, Durant, East Buchanan, and Iowa Valley.
The top two teams and top six individuals from each location will advance to the state tournament May 26th and May 27th.
