It’s win or go home time for girls soccer teams with Washington and Columbus Community starting their postseason today in a first round class 1A regional.
In region 7, the Demons will have a quarterfinal matchup in Donnellson to face Central Lee. Washington finished the regular season 9-6 and third in the Southeast Conference with a 5-5 league mark. They will try to bounce back from two straight losses including a 2-1 defeat against Mid-Prairie on Thursday. The host Hawks are 10-4, winners of three straight, and finished second in the SEISC-South with a 5-1 conference record.
Columbus will travel to Mediapolis for a quarterfinal in region 8. The Wildcats are 2-9 and lost to the Bulldogs in the lone regular season meeting on April 14th by a 2-0 score. Mediapolis won the SEISC-North with a 3-2 conference mark and they sit at 6-9 overall.
Both games are set to kick off at 6 p.m. this evening.
