The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls soccer team saw their 2022 campaign come to an end Wednesday at Spartan Stadium in Solon by a 2-0 count in the first round of the Class 1A regional tournament. Mid-Prairie gave the No. 9 team in 1A all they wanted, making things difficult most of the night, including stymying Solon for the entire first half to keep the game even going to break. The Lady Spartans broke through early in the second half with Rose McAtee beating the Golden Hawk defense in the 41st minute. Mid-Prairie pushed forward in an effort to find the equalizer late, in doing so, Solon found insurance in the 89th minute on a Silvie Hendricks strike. Ainsley Lueck had 12 saves in goal for Mid-Prairie. The Golden Hawks end their season at 9-6. Solon improves to 15-3 and will take on the Washington Demons Tuesday at Spartan Stadium.
Mid-Prairie says good-bye to a senior class of seven including Lueck, Julia Boller, Kaitlin Martin, Esther Hughes, Evelyn Gerber, Leah Bontrager and Lilou Beachy.
