The Highland School District has seen some movement on their board this spring. In mid-April District 6 representative Kathy Butler resigned her position on the board. This vacancy was filled at their May 9th meeting by the appointment of Josh Thomann who had filled out an online survey of interest provided by the district. Thomann will serve the rest of Butler’s term through November of 2023.

On May 13th, District 5 representative Megan Allen resigned her position on the board. At this time, the vacancy has been posted along with a survey on the Highland school district website for those interested in the position. The survey includes questions regarding the individuals opinions about important attributes and responsibilities for board members as well as their vision for the district. A two-week period must elapse before the district can appoint someone to the position, during which time, the public can petition for a special election. An appointment by the board would be done in early June. District 5 covers the majority of the city of Riverside contained within the city limits. The term expires November of 2025.
