The Mid-Prairie baseball and softball teams are back on the diamond Tuesday in River Valley Conference play when the Wilton Beavers visit. The Mid-Prairie softball team is 1-2 on the season after a 10-0 loss in five innings against Class 3A, No. 2 Mount Vernon Monday night on the road. The Hawks were no hit in the contest while the Mustangs scored in each inning, aided by six hits and four Mid-Prairie errors. On the season, Mid-Prairie has a 9-0 win over West Branch and a 9-2 loss to Keokuk. Wilton is ranked No. 3 in Class 2A according to the first poll of the season from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. The Beavers are hitting .364 as a team with Charlotte Brown and Taylor Drayfahl both at .500. Drayfahl has a team best 10 hits, Brown with a team best 10 RBI and Kaylee Coss and Kinsey Drake are tied with six runs scored. In the circle, Brown, Jessica Clark and Halee Driscoll have worked 31 innings with a 4.06 ERA, allowing 36 hits, 18 earned runs, walking eight and striking out 34. The Beavers have won six of the last eight in the series including a doubleheader sweep in 2021 by 8-2 and 12-0 scores.

The Mid-Prairie baseball team comes into the night with a 3-1 record that includes victories over Fairfield, Muscatine and Williamsburg and a loss to West Branch. The Hawks are ranked No. 3 in Class 2A in this week’s poll from the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. They are hitting .256 as a team with Brock Harland leading the way at .500. He and Will Cavanagh have a team best six hits, Alex Bean leads the way with four RBI. On the mound, Mid-Prairie has a team ERA of 2.48, with Cain Brown, Karson Grout and Collin Miller each recording wins. Opponents are hitting .182 against the Hawk staff. They have allowed 18 hits, 11 earned runs, walked 28 and struck out 38 as a team. Wilton is winless this year at 0-4 with losses to Iowa City Regina, Durant, Davenport North and Sigourney. The Beavers are hitting just .163 as a team with Karson Willey and Mason Ormsby the leaders at .333. Those two along with Josh Garvin and Nolan Townsend lead the team with three hits each. Willey, Garvin and Townsend each have one RBI. The Beavers have a team ERA of 2.42 across 26 innings, giving up 20 hits, nine earned runs, walking 10 and striking out 25. Wilton has won 16 of the last 24 in the series but the Hawks have won four straight.
