Residents can envision life abroad, travel back in time, or beyond the beaten path this June at the Washington Public Library.

The summer reading program begins for kids with weekly in-person meetings and prizes for those who complete their reading logs, as well as public events for the whole family beginning with juggler Jason Kollum on June 14th at 10 a.m. at Central Park. Library Director Cary Ann Siegfried assures that kids aren’t having all the fun as Adult Services Librarian Tammy Valentine is hosting a reading program for the grown ups, “For adults we’re spending the summer in Italy, and we have several different book clubs that are participating heavily in events for this. So please check our website, get signed up for summer reading club for adults too and set an example for those kids in your life.”

Events on the calendar include an adult summer reading breakfast in Central Park on June 4th, and movie screenings and book discussions throughout the summer. There is plenty of regular programming happening at the library this month too, in addition to programs they’re hosting in collaboration with Juneteenth Celebration Week June 12th-18th in Washington. You can register for any of these events and find the full calendar in this story at kciiradio.com, and hear more about this June at the library during Wednesday’s Halcyon House Washington Page.
