The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team went on the road and picked up a signature win Wednesday, besting the No. 13 in Class 2A Durant Wildcats 4-1. It was the Wildcats with the early advantage, picking up a run in the first when Bailey Kraklio drove in Ally Happ to make it 1-0 against Mid-Prairie starter Landry Pacha. From there, the two teams posted dueling goose eggs until the sixth, when the Hawks pushed across a pair of runs. Gabi Robertson tripled to lead things off and came home to score on a Sydney Knebel RBI base hit to tie things at one. Pacha then helped her own cause with an RBI double to give Mid-Prairie the 2-1 lead they wouldn’t give up the rest of the night. The Golden Hawks found insurance in the seventh with two more when Brenna Jehle and Molly Yoder walked to start the frame, Robertson also supplied a hit in the inning, coupled with a Wildcat error, as she and Yoder scored. Mid-Prairie then slammed the door on defense with another zero in the seventh.

The win moves Mid-Prairie to 2-3 on the year and they host Northeast Goose Lake Thursday.
