Lone Tree was the destination for a Southeast Iowa Super Conference matchup on Thursday between the Lion and Louisa-Muscatine summer teams with the road Falcons snatching a pair of wins.
The baseball game was a seesaw battle that saw a 6-6 tie broken with a three run Falcon (2-5) sixth inning that led to a 9-8 victory over the Lions. Lone Tree had 10 hits led by Will Kleckner going 3-for-4 with two RBI while Tyler Bell and Mathew Hemsted each had a pair of knocks. Cade Patterson tossed 3 2/3 innings giving up three earned runs on three hits and Joe Boxwell suffered the loss recording the final four outs giving up one earned run on two hits. The Lions are now 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
The softball team had a hard time against perennial power L&M (8-1) with the Falcons scoring in every inning en route to a 16-7 triumph. The Lions had six hits with Ellen Carow going 2-for-4 with two RBI and the senior crossed the plate twice. Kinley Hayes twirled three innings in the circle giving up nine earned runs on seven hits and walking four. Lone Tree is now 2-4 and 1-4 in the SEISC.
Both Lion squads travel to Mediapolis tonight.
