
The Lone Tree summer sports teams rolled through Wapello Tuesday, sweeping their Southeast Iowa Superconference foes. The Lions took down the Indians on the baseball diamond 8-4. Wapello scored two runs in each of the first and third innings but Lone Tree erased the deficit late and ran away for the win scoring three in the fifth, once in the sixth and four times in the seventh. Lone Tree had 10 hits in the game and eight RBI, led by Tyler Bell’s 3/4 night with a pair of RBI. Hunter Hain also drove in two. Cade Shield got the pitching victory, working four and a third innings, surrendering two hits, walking one and striking out seven. The Lone Tree baseball team is now 3-5.
The Lady Lions were a 7-1 winner over the Arrows. They never trailed, posting two in the first, with Wapello pulling within 2-1 after two. From there Lone Tree kept adding on with a single run in the third and two each in the sixth and seventh to finish the victory. Lone Tree had 11 hits with Kayleigh Rundlett and Alex Dautremont totaling six. Dautremont and Hogan Eden each had two RBI. The win in the circle belonged to Arlie Lorack who went the distance, giving up one run on four hits and striking out seven. The Lady Lions improve to 5-6 with the win.
The Lone Tree boys and girls both take on Winfield-Mt. Union tonight.
