
Juneteenth celebrations planned for next week at the library.
Multiple displays from the African American Museum of Iowa in Cedar Rapids will be available for patrons . Tuesday Dan Henderson will host a seminar on Iowa Black Voices at 2pm. On Wednesday Jenny Barnett an Educator from the Museum will speak from 3pm-4pm about the importance of Juneteenth.
Dan Henderson speaking about his upcoming seminar on black voices says that “some of the stories shared will be uplifting but that there will also be some stories that are quite heartbreaking, but all will be highlighting the realities of growing up black in Iowa”.
