For Washington residents looking to get in touch with their creative side the Washington Public Library will be offering a Pop Art experience next Tuesday.

Pop Art is  an art form which challenges traditions of fine art by including imagery from popular and mass culture, such as advertising, comic books and mundane mass-produced objects and popularized by artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Keith Haring.

Library Director Cary Ann Siegfried notes that this is going to be a Pop Art experience with a little bit of a twist.

“We have Michael Albert coming in who is a Pop Artist that focuses on recycled art, and he’ll be working with the kids on making a cereal box Pop Art colleague. We’ve been collecting cereal boxes for the past couple of months, so if you have some boxes you would like to donate please bring them in now.”

Registration is required for this event with the deadline being set for Friday, June 17th.
