Another home doubleheader sweep was in store for the Highland baseball and softball team on Thursday when they downed Central Lee in Southeast Iowa Super Conference crossover play.

The middle innings is where the Huskie baseball bats did damage and they rode the momentum to a 9-6 victory over the Hawks (3-7). The team finished with seven hits led by Kaige Vonnahme going 2-for-3 with four RBI and Connor Grinstead brought in a pair of tallies. Peyton Yeggy pitched in relief to pick up the win tossing 4 2/3 innings surrendering two runs on three hits and striking out six. The red and white keep the good times rolling by improving to 11-1 overall and 6-1 in the league.

The Highland softball squad put up a four spot in the first and while Central Lee (7-3) rallied late, they never got over the hump in a 10-7 Huskie victory. The offense peppered 12 hits with Payton Brun going 3-for-4 with three RBI and Sarah Burton was 3-for-3 with a triple. Grace Batcheller twirled all seven innings in the circle giving up seven runs on nine hits and striking out three. They are now 7-4 overall and 6-2 in the SEISC.
