It’s been a productive start to the week for the Washington baseball team winning two of three matchups.
The Demons welcomed Keokuk for a double dip on Monday with the orange and black winning a wild game one 12-10 and falling in the nightcap 11-0. Three crooked number innings helped Washington build a 12-6 lead in the opener and they held on in the end. The offense had eight hits with Ethan Patterson going 3-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored. Lucas Kroll recorded a couple singles and a triple. Four pitchers teamed up in the win with Luke Beenblossom being credited with the victory recording three outs and no earned runs given up. The bats were stymied in the finale with just one hit coming from Kole Williams on a double. Six more pitchers saw time on the hill.
A trip to Oskaloosa was in store the next night with the Demons scratching out an exciting 8-7 win. They led 7-1 after four when the Indians (5-10) made things interesting, but the lead was never relinquished. The offense had 10 knocks with Williams going off by managing a 4-for-4 night with four RBI. Ethan Zieglowsky got the win on the hill tossing five frames surrendering three earned runs on four hits and Isaac Vetter recorded the final six outs on two runs and four strikeouts.
Washington is now 4-10 overall and 2-8 in the SEC. They hit the road tonight at conference leader Burlington (13-4, 8-1). Game one of the doubleheader starts at 5:30 p.m. and listen to all of the action on FM 106.1 KCII.
