Runs were plentiful in Winfield on Monday against Southeast Iowa Super Conference foe Wapello, but it wasn’t enough for the home Wolves falling in a pair of games.
The softball game was reminiscent of a football final score with the Arrows (12-9, 6-6) prevailing 21-10. WMU led 9-7 after three, but an 11 run Wapello fourth gave them a lead they never surrendered. Wapello finished with 19 hits. The Wolves drop to 5-8 overall and in the league.
The baseball game saw the home Wolves take an early 2-0 advantage, but a five run Indian (3-10, 3-7) second inning gave them the upper hand and WMU was playing catch up the rest of the way in a 10-6 loss. The Indians also had a hit parade with 17 knocks on the evening. Winfield-Mt. Union is now 2-13 overall and 2-11 in the SEISC.
