After Keota swept a pair of regular season rivalry meetings in 2021, the Sigourney baseball team was able to return the favor in 2022 by beating the Eagles for the second time with Wednesday’s 11-3 home victory.
The Savages put up the game’s first six runs and broke it open with a four run fifth that was enough to pull away. The black and gold managed six hits with Garisin Hynick going 2-for-4 and Bo Schmidt brought in three tallies. Schmidt tossed a complete game four hitter surrendering three earned runs and striking out five. Colten Clarahan and Caleb Waterhouse connected on doubles for a three knock Eagle offense. Caden and Colten Clarahan teamed up on the mound giving up five earned runs on six hits and fanning 13 batters. Sigourney dipped out of conference last night traveling to Cardinal and they couldn’t dig themselves out of an early hole to lose 11-5. The Savages are 14-4 overall and 12-1 in the SICL. Keota is 14-5 and 10-3 in the conference.
The softball game between the Savages and Eagles was a forfeit that gave Sigourney the win and they turned around for a 2-1 win last night over Cardinal. Carly Goodwin did her thing in the circle tossing a complete game four hitter surrendering no earned runs and striking out nine. The offense scattered four hits with Ava Fisch going 2-for-3 and Rain Barthelman recorded one RBI. Sigourney moves to 18-5 overall and 12-1 in conference. Keota is 0-15 and 0-14 in league play.
