Senator Chuck Grassley easily won his Republican primary over his opponent Jim Carlin and will be taking on former US Navy Admiral Michael Franken in the upcoming November elections. Senator Grassley believes that the Democrats are going to use the January 6th trial as a way to impact the election.

“First of all, I believe that you have to see it as a political effort to detract from the bad policies and what people think of these bad policies that deal with inflation and high gas prices. The end result of this is a report that’s going to come out around the election, so it’s meant as a political move.”

Grassley has been a critic of Franken since he won the Democratic primary over Abby Finkenauer and Glenn Hurst, claiming that the former Admiral was the most “radical candidate” out of the three democratic nominees. Senator Grassley met with business owners and employees in Mt. Pleasant yesterday for a Q&A as he tours Iowa’s 99 counties. A date for a Washington county visit has yet to be announced.
