Pitching weapons were aplenty on the diamond at Highland High School Tuesday in the district semifinal round of the Class 1A tournament. The home Highland Huskies found just enough offense to get by the road Hillcrest Ravens 2-0. The pitchers dual began with Highland turning to Chase Schultz and Hillcrest to Seth Ours. The Huskies got single tallies in the first and third innings that would prove to be the difference. The Highland offense came up with three hits in total on the night against Ours and reliever Luke Schrock, but the Huskies were aided by five walks, three Raven errors and stole five bases. The Hillcrest offense had an even tougher time against the Highland staff. Schultz recorded the win across five and two thirds innings for Highland allowing just two hits and striking out eight. Ethan Paisley recorded a four out save without much drama. The Highland defense had a pair of miscues.

For Highland Connor Grinstead had a hit and scored both runs for the Huskies. Chase Schultz and Logan Bonebrake also had singles for the Huskies. Hillcrest got a single each from Jace Rempel and Mason Bender. With the loss, Hillcrest ends their season at 12-11 and says goodbye to senior Noah Miller. Highland improves to 22-3 and gears up for the 1A District eight title game on Saturday in Riverside when they host Lynnville-Sully.
