For the third time in the last three months, the Highland School District is working to fill a vacancy on their school board. In late June, Samantha Holden, representative for the District 4 seat on the board, resigned her position citing a move that will take her out of the school district in the new future. According to Superintendent Ken Crawford, the district is looking to appoint a new member to the board on July 18th, after they wait the requisite two weeks for the public to file a petition if they so choose. Holden was elected in 2019, her term expires in November of 2023.
This is the third school board vacancy for the district since May. The District 6 seat was filled in the spring with the appointment of Josh Thomann following the resignation of Kathy Butler and the District 5 seat was filled in mid-June by the appointment of Melissa Murphy, following the resignation of Megan Allen.
