As expected, the postseason recognition was plentiful for the Sigourney baseball team with eight players being named all conference by the South Iowa Cedar League.
Four seniors were named first team including Cade Molyneux as an outfielder, Bo Schmidt as a pitcher, and infielders Cade Streigle and Levi Crawford. Molyneux was a hitting machine leading the league and finishing fifth in class 1A with a .541 batting average. He was second in the conference with 41 RBI, scored 34 times, stole 25 bags, and did not have an error all year. Schmidt was the team’s ace with a 3.80 ERA in 46 innings on the hill while also producing at the plate with a .493 BA and knocking in 38 runs. Streigle managed a .602 OBP, collected 37 RBI, stole 11 bases, and had a 2.56 ERA in 14 innings pitched. Crawford had the third most stolen bases in the SICL with 26, had a .553 on base percentage, and brought in 22 tallies.
Garisin Hynick and Jake Moore were named to the second team. Hynick reached safely 50% of the time and scored 35 times while Moore had a .333 average and 15 RBI. Reid Molyneux and Max Phillips were tabbed as honorable mention. Molyneux had a keen eye with 18 walks for a .432 OBP and Phillips brought in 15 runs with a .324 on base percentage.
The Savages finished the summer 19-6 and second in the SICL with a 13-1 league mark.
