The Washington County Fair will be running until July 22nd, and fair goers will have until then to view and purchase the mini-barn quilts on display. The four loops, which can still be viewed for free, are along the main fair entrance. Twelve mini barn quilts are placed near the round red barn.
Half of the money raised will go to revitalizing the original barn quilts, and the other half will go back to the Middle School ELP, Art, and Music programs. Connie Kuhlman, an EPL teacher at Washington Middle School, says that this fundraiser is of great necessity. “Unfortunately, when you drive around Washington County, you can see that some of the quilts are very faded, and they do need to be repainted, and we want to make sure that they have the money to do that.”
Scannable QR codes can also be found on the back of each quilt that will provide more information about the quilt itself from the student who painted it. Any barn quilts that don’t sell during the fair will also be available at the July 28th farmers market in Central Park.
