A Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy reported to the Washington County Jail to serve a warrant for fifty-year-old Trevor James Gast of Iowa City for third and fourth-degree burglary and trespassing first offense. Gast was being held at the Washington County Jail for an incident that occurred on July 26th when Gast and his girlfriend, thirty-six-year-old Bridget Elaine Dual, were arrested after the couple found an unlocked side door to a residential garage attached to a Riverside condo and entered the garage looking for items to steal.

The couple was spotted on a security camera, and the Sheriff’s Office was notified and arrested both Gast and Dual for third-degree burglary, a Class D felony. Under Miranda, Gast admitted that they were looking to steal valuable items to sell for drugs and that he and Dual went into this same residential garage on July 14th and stole a black motorcycle helmet and a drill.

Gast was released from the Washington County Jail on his own recognizance and was scheduled to appear at his initial hearing yesterday at 11 am. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
