The Mid-Prairie boys and girls cross country teams tested themselves against some of the best that the large schools in the state had to offer at Thursday’s Iowa City West Early Bird Invitational. The No. 3 in Class 2A Mid-Prairie girls finished third in the field of five with their score of 79. No. 2 in Class 4A Pleasant Valley won the meet with 19. The Hawks dropped a tiebreaker to Iowa City Liberty based on the fifth place runners finish. The Hawks were led at the meet by Danielle Hostetler in second with a time of 18:43. Other Golden Hawk finishers included Abby Fleming seventh, Phoebe Shetler 21st, Annika Poll 26th, Greta Sieren 32nd, Tabitha Evans 34th, Ivy Reschly 35th, Dessa Poll 36th and Amara Jones 37th.
The No. 11 in Class 2A Golden Hawk boys were fourth in the five team field with their score of 95. No. 2 in Class 4A Iowa City High won the title with 19 points. Top finish for the Hawks came from Emmet Swartzentruber in 10th with a time of 17:29. Other Golden Hawk runners included Blake Creed 17th, Preston Yutzy 18th, Jayse Yoder 23rd, Nathan Wallington 31st, Daniel Rodgers 34th, Jesse Stultz 38th, Jordan Stock 40th, Thomas Flynn 42nd and Andrew Stultz 45th.
