With their week zero showdown being cut short, the Lone Tree football team was finally able to play a full game on Friday in week one when they traveled to Central City and were on the wrong side of a 44-21 affair.
The Lions had a hard time finding their footing by trailing 14-0 after one and 26-0 at the break. The offense was able to convert in the second half by outscoring the Wildcats 21-18, but the outcome was never in doubt. Lone Tree gave up 352 total yards with Central City’s Jayden Hanson completing 11 of 20 throws for 164 yards and four touchdowns. Lucas Greif was hard to stop hauling in eight receptions for 109 yards and three scores.
The Lions fall to 0-1 and they seek their first win Friday hosting English Valleys.
