Southeast Iowa Super Conference (SEISC) coaches, players and volleyball families have banded together to support Assistant Director of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Lisa Brinkmeyer, who was diagnosed with a form of brain cancer last spring.
As Brinkmeyer fights her brain cancer, volleyball teams throughout southeast Iowa will support her in the form of fundraising. There are three ways to provide support; t-shirt sales, a raffle for a chance to win a custom corn hole set, four Cubs tickets and four Cardinals tickets, and each school will have fifty bracelets for sale showing support for Brinkmeyer.
On September 13th and 15th, local volleyball teams will be wearing custom shirts.
WACO Head Volleyball Coach Jay Coble shares his thoughts on Brinkmeyer, “Really good lady.  She was a great hire by the Union and we certainly want her to battle through this and hopefully get better. We feel like it’s a good thing for everybody to get awareness. Obviously we have cancer awareness games and I think the State’s done a great job of promoting that and allowing teams to have those types of things. For us to do this for Lisa is the least that we can do for her.”
