waco-2

The No.3 ranked team in 8-player will seek win number three tonight when WACO welcomes HLV for a district football matchup at Roth Field.

WACO is off to a fast 2-0 start where the offense has put up 49 points a night and the defense surrenders just 21. Second year quarterback Isaac Oswald has been in control completing 13 of 14 passes for 294 yards and four scores. The senior has all state running back Simeon Reichenbach behind him carrying the rock 24 times for 186 yards and six touchdowns. The team has not trailed in 96 minutes of game play and Drew Diers leads the defense with 18.5 tackles. The HLV Warriors were on the short end of a 42-32 affair last week against Montezuma in their season opener. Kyler Gorsh completed nine of 16 passes for 120 yards and Boston York was everywhere defensively with 14 tackles.

Oswald, our JET Physical Therapy Football Athlete of the Week, tells KCII Sports the keys for tonight. “To move to 3-0 we just have to be physical up front and beat them off the ball. Defensively they have a really good linebacker (York) that can go sideline to sideline so we will have to watch out for him.”

The Warriors have had the upper hand in the last two meetings including a 41-13 triumph last year.

The district clash will begin at 7 p.m. tonight in Wayland.
