A trip north to Anamosa for a tournament was in store for the Washington volleyball team on Saturday and the Demons went 1-6 against the competition. 

The orange and black picked up a hard fought win over Maquoketa Valley (27-25, 21-17), but fell to Bellevue (21-13, 21-12), Galena (21-13, 21-9), Clear Creek-Amana (21-12, 21-13), Northeast (21-16, 21-10), and Anamosa (21-8, 21-14). Leighton Messinger led the offense with 18 kills and Alex Murphy recorded 15. Lauren Hinrichsen set a lot of it up with 31 assists. 

Washington is now 4-10 overall and they return home tonight hosting Keokuk (4-6).
