The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call Thursday that a man was seen trespassing on someone’s property and had broken into the home and stolen a phone. Thirty-two-year-old Cori James Miller of Wayland was arrested for domestic abuse assault, first offense, fifth-degree criminal mischief, obstruction of emergency communications, and second-degree burglary, a Class C felony.

According to Iowa law, a subject commits second-degree burglary when perpetrating a burglary in or upon an occupied structure in which one or more persons are present, and do not have a dangerous weapon or incendiary device, and no bodily injury is caused to any person. Class C felonies are punishable by a prison term of up to ten years and a fine of $1,000 to $10,000.

Miller was transported to the Washington County Jail; KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
