The Hillcrest Academy Operating Board has approved the opening of a middle school and will offer a 6th grade class in the fall of 2023. This historic decision came after a process of exploration beginning in December 2020. Since then, the community expressed great interest and support of this option and the Board’s approval of this program is in response to this need.
Hillcrest Academy Principal Dwight Gingerich discusses the process involved with this decision, “Through the years it just felt like the time was never maybe quite right. We are at a point now, where it was picked up again by our Board, and surveys have been done, even a couple of years ago as Covid was kind of raging we kind of paused it and even since then the inquiries keep coming. So as a way to respond to the expressed need in the larger community we want to make this available. Our Board has been very hard at work for this and there has been a lot of enthusiasm for this within our Board and it’s been fun to see this develop.”
Hillcrest Academy currently educates students in the ninth through twelfth grades.
