Sarah Grunewaldt, the long-time Executive Director for Main Street Washington, stepped down in August after ten years at the helm. The original application deadline for the open Executive Director position was August 31st, but it has now been extended to the end of September. Maddie Widmer, the board president of Main Street Washington, said that the deadline extension was to ensure that all candidates got a fair shot at applying.

Widmer also talked about what the hiring committee is looking for in applicants. “We are looking for a potential candidate to help bring the organization into its next phase. We want to expand our event offerings, and we want our next candidate to be great with event planning and also excel in bringing sponsorships and other partnerships and to work with business owners so that they know how vital main street is to the community.”

The first events expected to be under the supervision of the new Executive Director for Main Street Washington will be during the winter schedule. Interested candidates can send their resumes and references to resume@washingtoniowa.org.
