The Highland Huskies volleyball team split their four matches at the Cardinal Tournament Saturday in Eldon. Highland defeated the host Cardinal Comets in straight sets and knocked off Twin Cedars in three sets, but the Huskies were also swept by both WACO and Danville.
Sophomore hitter Adeline Krotz contributed all over the floor, ending the tournament with totals of 20 kills, four aces, 23 digs and four blocks. Junior Sarah Burton also made an impact as a hitter with 17 kills and 23 digs.
Junior Grace Prybil and senior MyLei Smith both covered plenty of ground splitting setter duties. Along with handing out 25 assists, Prybil added three kills, nine digs and a block. In addition to dishing out 34 assists, Smith finished with four kills, eight aces and 18 digs.
Highland stays right at .500 by moving to 6-6. Next up for the Huskies is pool play in the Super Conference Volleyball Tournament on Thursday. Highland’s first opponent will be Holy Trinity, followed by Winfield-Mount Union and Pekin.
