The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves football team will look to stay in a groove when they host Tri-County Friday night. WMU has won back-to-back games to improve to 4-2 and to pull to an even .500 in district play. The offense has made the biggest leap for the Wolves, scoring better than 50 points in each of the two most recent wins.

Star junior running back Cam Buffington needs only 51 more rushing yards to reach 1,000 for the season. Over the last two victories, Buffington has rushed for 303 yards and five touchdowns while averaging almost 10 yards per carry. Junior starting quarterback Cole Milks has also been solid, including a 149-yard, three-TD performance two weeks ago in a win over HLV.

Buffington has also lead the Wolves on defense with 61 tackles and three interceptions, all returned for scores. Junior Abram Edwards continues to disrupt the opposing backfield with 10 tackles for loss and six sacks. WMU will need to cause havoc all night to disrupt Tri-County senior quarterback Eli Molyneaux. Despite the Trojans being just 1-4, Molyneaux has passed for over 800 yards; run for more than 460; and accounted for 14 total touchdowns.

Winfield-Mount Union has won each of the previous two meetings by 36 points or more. The Wolves try to tame Tri-County again starting at 7 o’clock Friday night.
