A Washington County Sheriff’s Office Deputy came into contact with a woman that was wanted out of Washington County on a felony warrant on Monday, October 3rd. Forty-seven-year-old Amy Renee Frantz of Wellman was arrested on a felony warrant for First-Degree Theft, a Class C Felony. Theft in the amount exceeding $10,000 is First-Degree Theft.
The original incident occurred in December of 2021 when the Sheriff’s Office received a call from Casey’s General Store loss prevention in Riverside, Iowa. An investigation discovered that Frantz had control over stolen property worth over $17,000. The records and video show Frantz walking out of the store with a bank deposit bag but not depositing into the bank, thereby stealing the money from the business. In December, a deputy met with and spoke with Frantz, and she admitted to stealing the cash while performing her job as the store manager. Frantz admitted that these events occurred ten times over a period of three months.
On July 8th, Frantz was placed on supervised probation with the Department of Correctional Services. Two months after being placed on probation, Frantz was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated, Open Container-Driver, and Operation Without Registration, which violated her probation. A warrant was issued for her arrest on September 14th.
Frantz was transported to the Washington County Jail and is currently being held on a $10,000 cash-only bond. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
