Four KCII area football teams continue to carry the banner for southeast Iowa in this week’s Associated Press polls.
The WACO Warriors remain unbeaten and at No. 2 in this week’s 8-man poll. Head coach Chad Edeker’s team was a 42-17 winner at Lone Tree Friday. The Warriors are receiving a pair of first place votes. WACO draws rival Winfield-Mt. Union Friday at Roth Field. Head Coach Scott McCarty and the Wolves are 5-2 and receiving votes in this week’s 8-man poll from the AP after a 60-0 blasting of Tri-County a week ago.
In Class A, the Columbus Wildcats, under head coach Dave Lekwa, continue their winning ways and climbed a spot this week from seventh to sixth after hammering North Mahaska on Homecoming in Junction Friday 71-14 to remain perfect at 6-0. This week, the ‘Cats are on the road to meet 1-5 North Cedar at Doug Jackson Field in Stanwood.
In Class 1A, Sigourney-Keota is on a four game winning streak and the AP has taken notice, seeing the Snakes jump into the receiving votes category for the first time since the early part of the year. Head coach Jared Jensen’s SK crew crushed Cardinal Friday 56-3. This week, they host 4-2 Central Decatur at the Snake Pit for Homecoming.
