The Washington Performing Arts Series continues this Sunday at the Washington Performing Arts Center at Washington High School. Taking the stage this Sunday will be the award-winning American bluegrass and folk duo, the Okee Dokee Brothers. The group emphasizes creating music that will give listeners a greater respect for the natural world, their communities, and themselves.
Diana Flannery, a music advocate that lives in Washington, spoke with KCII Radio about how there is a certain comfort that comes with their music. “To describe it musically, it’s bluegrass mixed with folk music, and it’s just full of heart and real-life living that comes out in their lyrics and their melodies. When you listen to them, it’s kind of like putting on your favorite sweatshirt. “
The show will be Sunday, October 9th, at 3:00 pm, with tickets available online through the Washington Auditorium’s website. The next show that will be a part of the Washington Performing Arts Series will be the Parallel Exit Vaudevillian Show on Sunday, February 19th.
