October 8th is the last day of National 4-H Week, and Washington County has been listed as one of the top ten largest 4-H programs in the state of Iowa. The theme of this year’s National 4-H Week is Opportunity4All, to highlight 4-H’s commitment to providing kids with a positive learning environment to develop leadership skills.

Washington County 4-H member Tess Berdo, who is also a clover kid leader for the St. James Clover Kid club, talked with KCII Radio about what has inspired her to work with kids. “I’ve always wanted to be a teacher, so I’ve always loved working with kids, and I loved working with my leader when I was in Clover Kids, and I find it really enjoyable to work with kids.

Berdo also talked about how the leader she worked with in Clover Kids served as an inspiration, “I just loved her leadership skills and how she used to plan out all the activities for us to do, and it really inspired me to do what she did.”
